Si procedeWe are proceeding with good will. There are many things to do and the works must be done in such a way as not to hinder each other. We then begin the construction of the road between the station and the upcoming village (TBD). For the road network we have something new in mind, but we will talk about it in a specific article.
Per prima First we run some surveys. The area to be created first is depicted in red in the image. The slope to overcome is about 20 cm, therefore the road will have a winding path.
The area to create
We draw the roadway using CAD, then join the printed sheets and fix them them with adhesive tape on a 3 mm “forex” sheet, then we cut along the profiles. We roughen the surface, imitating the asphalt, and we shape the profile of the roadway with a slight donkey’s back.
Roadbed
We shape and glue the 5 mm plywood supports, then we position and fix the roadway. The screws will be removed after gluing and the holes and joints adequately filled before the airbrush painting.
Roadbed
The road will continue slightly uphill for another 40 cm. To make the landscape more dynamic, we decide to interpose a road bridge between the two anchor points. As usual, by now, we design the model with CAD and upload the file to our 3D printer. We assemble the two sides and the vault having sanded then with sandpaper.
Road bridge
E’ il momento di verniciare il pezzo con l’aerografo. Su una base It is time to airbrush the model. On a sand basi colour we apply a coat of various grays until the desired result is obtained. The parapet bricks are painted with dry brush tecnique. A light soiling with pigments completes the job.
Painted road bridge
With the same technique we prepare the roadway to be glued to the bridge. We also paint the centerline by masking with Tamiya tape, a really great product.
Centerline painting
Still using “forex” we cut out a base and glue the bridge in place. This will help us to support the polystyrene hill relief and to be able to manipulate out-work the model.
Road and bridge joined
Sagomiamo il rilievo in polistirolo facendo uso dell’archetto e del We shape the polystyrene block using the foam cutting bow and the cutter, reproducing the cliffs and rocks.
Block shaping
CopWe apply a plaster layer, fingers smoothed and sculpted in correspondence with the rocky spur. The model is now consistent and ready for next processing.
Reliefs creation
Before applying sifted soil, sand and vegetation, we paint the rocks and prepare the ground, painting it with a very diluted sand color.
Reliefs painting
We now apply on a layer of vinyl glue sieved and sterilized topsoil and pebbles. We sprinkle everything with Latex glue.
Topsoil glueing
After drying we glue grass, bushes and small trees. The various shades of grass are ‘planted’ imagining the summer period, with greener and more barren areas. The low bushes are made with turf of various brands sprayed with spray glue and dusted with micro-leaves.
We set the micro-diorama in place. We are now to finish the road that leads from the station to this bridge. From this point we will continue until we meet the road that surrounds the village … which will be a surprise !!!
