Tre dei cinque blocchi della scarpata

The landscape – January 2021

A new year begins, work continues, hoping of being able to finish it in the next twelve months.
During Christmas holydays we have arranged and reorganized the model layout room and we have installed a driveway door hoping it will be crossed as soon as possible by old and new friends.

During the arrangement we decided to move the “carpentry department” outside the room, to avoid the typical deadly dust produced by this manufacturing. We have thus created a fully openable storage room that houses the cutting-off bench and all the equipment.

After the reorganization it’s time to go back to the layout and start covering the upper line. In the picture we highlighted with a black and white effect the area to be shaped.

We divide the process into five or more glued polystyrene panels blocks to reach the thickness necessary to outline a slope.
This is the first block that includes a rocky ridge and an escarpment, carved onto polystyrene.

We apply with a brush a liquid plaster coat onto the surface.

After having painted the rocky areas, we coat the rest with sand-colored paper and vinyl glue and apply a veil of real soil, as already done in other processes. When the ground is dry we brighten up it with airbrushed “sand” acrylic color and start to “vegetate” the slope, using fibers, flakes and other materials.

TerminiamWe finish the block by creating a grove of Heki fir trees planted on a  Noch substrate.

With the same technique we make the second block which houses a more massive vegetation, dominated by an oak. Shrubs and trees, with the exception of oak, quickly made with teloxis sprigs airbrush darkened and various foliage applied with spray glue (Microrama Magispray , excellent product). The lower part of the blocks will subsequently be provided with a retaining wall (now in 3D print phase).
